NSALK offers large-scale instruction, training and education programmes. Eight to twelve courses are arranged each year.

All our courses maintain a high quality level, and normally comprise a mixture of theory and practical exercises, led by our highly skilled and qualified lecturers and instructors. The practical exercises include training with mechanical and computer simulators, in addition to operations on animals. The center uses an operation simulator which allows surgeons to practice operations on animal organs. The courses cover a wide range of laparoscopic procedures in specialties within most branches of surgery, gynaecology and orthopaedics.

NSALK has courses for surgeons, nurses and medical technical staff. The aim is to arrange at least one international course each year. The center also arranges courses in local hospitals across Norway.

NSALK aims to lead the field in Norway in new procedures and technologies by arranging courses in such areas as robotised surgery, advanced manipulators, NOTES, new navigation techniques and 3D ultrasound.
